Originally done on "Patta" or canvas type material, "Pattachitra" also began to be practiced subsequently on Cloth (Tussar Silk). Today, these paintings are hand made on both Cloth & "Patta", by numerous skilled artists in an extended area from Raghurajpur to Pipli (a hamlet between Bhubaneshwar & Puri). The themes in these paintings are generally associated with Lord Krishna (Jagannath).
